Where to go from Nice Airport: the French Riviera at a glance

Nice Côte d’Azur Airport sits right on the seafront, almost halfway between Cannes and Monaco. Most of the region’s well-known addresses are less than an hour away. Here is a quick overview to help you plan your stay.

01 · Heading east

Nice, Villefranche, Èze, Monaco and Menton

East of the airport, the coast becomes steeper and the towns follow one another without a break.

  • Nice city centre is very close: the Promenade des Anglais starts almost at the airport exit. Allow fifteen to twenty minutes depending on the district.
  • Villefranche-sur-Mer, Beaulieu and Saint-Jean-Cap-Ferrat lie just beyond Nice, around one of the finest bays in the Mediterranean.
  • Èze, the hilltop village, is reached by the Moyenne Corniche.
  • Monaco is about thirty kilometres away, or 30 to 40 minutes outside rush hour.
  • Menton, the last town before Italy, takes a little longer.

02 · Heading west

Antibes, Cannes, Mandelieu and Saint-Tropez

To the west, the A8 motorway follows the coast and serves the main seaside resorts.

  • Antibes and Juan-les-Pins are the closest: usually 20 to 30 minutes.
  • Cannes and its Croisette are 35 to 45 minutes away outside rush hour.
  • Mandelieu-la-Napoule and Théoule lie just beyond Cannes, at the foot of the Estérel hills.
  • Saint-Tropez is the furthest: allow at least an hour and a half, and considerably more in high summer, when the gulf road is very busy.

03 · Inland

Saint-Paul-de-Vence, Grasse and the hilltop villages

The French Riviera is more than its coastline. A few kilometres from the sea, the hinterland shows another side of the region.

Saint-Paul-de-Vence, an artists’ village ringed by ramparts, is about twenty minutes from the airport. Vence and Mougins are not much further. Grasse, the perfume capital, takes about three quarters of an hour.

In winter, the ski resorts of the Mercantour are also less than two hours away: see our ski resorts from Nice Airport page.

These villages work well with a chauffeur at your disposal: he drops you off, waits, then drives you to the next stop.

How to estimate your travel time

Distance is not the whole story. On the French Riviera, your departure time makes the difference.

Morning and late afternoon: add a good quarter of an hour, sometimes more, around Nice, Monaco and Cannes.

July and August: the coast roads and the approach to Saint-Tropez are noticeably slower.

The times given here are rough guides. For a flight, a meeting or a dinner at a fixed time, we work out the departure time with you when you book.

Before you go

Planning your visits on the French Riviera

Official information (times, access, programme) is published on the Explore Nice Côte d’Azur website. We recommend checking it a few days before you travel, as details can change.

The tourist office presents the towns, villages, museums and events of the region there, enough to build your programme before you leave.

One tip for choosing well: start from Nice Airport, not from the map. Two towns that look close can be an hour apart by road, while the motorway makes other journeys very quick. If you are hesitating between two places to stay, give us both addresses: we will tell you the real travel time from Nice Airport, according to your arrival time.

Booking your chauffeur in practice

Whatever your journey, booking follows the same steps.

  • You tell us your journey. Pick-up address, destination, date, time, number of passengers and bags: the online booking form shows the price before you confirm anything.
  • You choose your vehicle. Mercedes E-Class or S-Class saloon for up to three passengers, V-Class for up to seven.
  • You receive a confirmation. It sums up your journey and the pick-up time.
  • Your chauffeur is waiting. At the airport, he follows your flight and waiting time is included for up to one hour after landing.

Payment is by card online or in cash. Cancellation is free of charge more than 48 hours before departure. For a special request, a group or a chauffeur at your disposal, write to us: we reply with a quote.
